Milko Bozhkov Admires the Ceramic Work of Picasso and Stoyan Tsanev by Milko Bozhkov

Artwork Description

Picasso became increasingly interested in working with clay in his later years, as it was less demanding than painting, to which he devoted great physical energy. Making ceramics allowed him to work on a smaller scale, but this gentler pace did not mean he slowed his rate of production, however. Picasso produced over 600 works in clay. The majority were editions made in the workshop at Madoura, but there were also some unique pieces that he carved in to with tools, and other items painted by hand. The Bulgarian modern painter Milko Bojkov, one of the brightest contemporary artists, recognized all over the world by his very modern contemporary artworks, makes this painting inspired by the ceramics he admired at an exhibition of Picasso in Spain the same year. He has been so impressed by the late year’s Picasso works that he, in his unique style of joking with life and art, made this very unique artwork, combining some images of pottery and a human figure, with a very special technique of glass, paper figures that are hidden under the glass and a human figure painted with an ink pencil on the surface of the glass, making this artwork in three layers and a very unique as technique and style, besides being amazingly bright and modern.
