Vincenzo Calli was born in the XI century town of Anghiari, nestled close to the birthplace of the Renaissance, Florence, Italy, with an overview of the seamless Tuscan countryside. This same landscape was the birthplace of Michelangelo, Piero della Francesca and many other Masters of the Renaissance painting.
After graduating from the Art Institute of Sansepolcro, Vincenzo Calli attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. At the age of 21 he held his first exhibition.
In 1984 he began his “American”, being invited to exhibit in the World-Exposition in New Orleans, Louisiana USA.
In 1986 he won the first prize Art 86 of the Mondatori magazine for painting and has been to exhibit in some major Italian galleries: at the Parameter in Rome and the Salomon and Augostoni Algranti in Milan.
It was in 1993 that the gallerist Michel Douberville, after seeing his mixed media artworks, invited the artist to do a solo show at the historic Bermheim-Jeune Art Gallery in Paris, where some great painters such as: Renoir, Cézanne, Van Gogh and Modigliani, exhibited. The catalogue of the artist for this exhibition was presented by the art critic Roger Bouillot and the writer Alberto Bevilacqua. In the same year, the artist resumed his exhibitions in the United States, as he has been invited by the Camino Real Gallery for a solo exhibition in Boca Raton Florida. For this exhibition, the catalogue has been signed by William Biety.
Since then, Vincenzo Calli has made numerous exhibitions both in Italy and abroad: among the many, we can mention the exhibition at the Albemarle Gallery in London, UK and the exhibition of 2015 in the Medici Museum at the Palazzo Medici Riccardi in Florence, Italy.
