An amazing mixed media technique, using papyrus, special cardboard, old postal stamps and envelopes by the distinguished painter Stoimen Stoilov. The painting here is part of one of his impressive cycles "Imaginary Correspondence" - papyrus paintings with mixed technique on hand-made panes of glued old sheets of different fonts and stamps found in Viennese antiquarians. The original idea comes from letters that are painted with beautiful stamps and old postcards on which the artist subconsciously starts scribbling some shapes, signs, hieroglyphs... They do not mean anything, and the creative process is included at the subconscious level. "I was thinking about Holbein and Picasso", remembers Stoimen Stoilov for the first attempt. This is a classic example of surrealism - on the real envelope are transferred stationary and unrelated artistic elements from the spiritual depot. Initially, they "swim" in the postal format in a picture prototype. But the discovery is done - the format grows to a clinging paper board in whose centre the typical heroes of the traveling theatre, postmen, sellers of illusions and more... whatever you think.
