Marc Dennis
Marc Dennis est un artiste contemporain établi, né aux États-Unis. Marc Dennis est né en 1965. Nés dans le même pays et vers la même année sont Kara Walker, Jason Rhoades, Ellen Gallagher, Andrea Zittel, Elizabeth Peyton, Rob Pruitt et Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Marc Dennis a été largement influencé par les années 1980 en grandissant. Les années 1980 ont été une ère de capitalisme mondial croissant, de bouleversements politiques, de médias de masse mondiaux, de disparités de richesse et de musique et de mode distinctives, caractérisées par le hip hop et la musique pop électronique. Cela a eu un fort impact sur la génération d'artistes qui a grandi pendant cette période. La chute du mur de Berlin à la fin des années 1980 a marqué la fin de la guerre froide, mais l'époque a également été marquée par la famine africaine. Concernant le contexte artistique et historique qui a influencé l'artiste, les États-Unis, en particulier la ville de New York, restent un point central qui a joué un rôle important dans le développement de l'art moderne et contemporain au XXe siècle. L'idée de New York comme nouveau pôle d'art multinational et très puissant est apparue dans l'ère d'après-guerre, et la ville a réussi à affirmer sa domination sur Paris, qui était autrefois considérée comme la capitale internationale de l'art la plus puissante. La prédominance des structures politiques et économiques des États-Unis dans la sphère moderne a conféré au pays une influence prédominante sur la culture visuelle du monde. L'expressionnisme abstrait, le pop art, le minimalisme, l'art conceptuel, le néo-expressionnisme, le graffiti et le street art sont des mouvements artistiques influents qui ont émergé aux États-Unis. Ces mouvements mêmes ont également fait écho dans une multitude de variations, telles que diverses formes d'expressionnisme abstrait, ainsi que des variantes du Pop Art de la côte est et ouest, entre autres. Parmi les artistes américains de l'ère moderne de renommée internationale, citons Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Frank Stella, Donald Judd, Cindy Sherman, Barbara Kruger.
