Nike by Nikolay Yanakiev

Artwork Description

A modern contemporary art painting in bright colours by Nikolay Yanakiev, part of his first solo virtual exhibition on the ArtWizard Platform. The artist depocted Nike, the godess of victory, where according to the Greek mythology, Nike and her siblings were close companions of Zeus, the dominant deity of the Pantheon of ancient Greece. According to classical myth about Nike, Styx brought them to Zeus when the god was assembling allies for the  Titanomachy against the older deities. Nike assumed the role of the divine chariotte lady, a role in which she often is portrayed in Classical Greek art. Nike flew around battlefields rewarding the victors with glory and fame, symbolized by a wreath of laurel leaves.
