Born in 1951 in Sofia, Bulgaria, Hristo Yotov graduated the National Art Academy in Sofia, specializing in painting and fine arts, at the class of prof. Panayotov. He realized more than 40 solo exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad. His art work depicts peculiar worlds, from reality to fairy-tales and legends. The characters that he creates have intense emotions and interesting past.
His painting depicts strange worlds, jumping from the real world into fairy tales and legends, his characters are loaded with emotions and past.
With his paintings, Hristo Yotov reveals the joy, the ecstasy of what is happening, no matter what it is. All are children who enjoy the sun, the gesture of nature to be part of life. They do not create, they do not use the world and things. They are the travellers of the incorruptible. They belong to life. They are lame guys who laugh at one moment, in another they grieve and express themselves through the movement in space, through the game that becomes their philosophy of living.
He lives in a world of exaltation that may not exist in reality but exists as a creative imagination. This makes his paintings rich in stories and images, of the super-emotional perception of the world. Even a tree is unusual for him. It fills the space of the picture, grows before our eyes, goes out of the frame, from the horizon, from the time, and experiences its history under the sun as the living man - his life.
Personages in paintings appear out of the blue - from the darkness of the subconscious, from the unknowable. They burst into superficiality, burst into moments of creative activity and anticipation of creative creation - exploding like giants - close, distant, but from other, burning worlds that are perceived with invisible senses that one usually loses in their daytime holidays. But they open up to the unusual, the magical experience that has to turn into a new picture full of emotions.
