L'artiste suisse Daniele Buetti explore le monde de la mode, les codes médiatiques et l'obsession de notre société pour la beauté à travers une gamme de médias différents, notamment la photographie, l'installation de caissons lumineux, la performance et la sculpture.
Après avoir travaillé pour des éditoriaux de mode dans les années 90, Buetti se tourne vers les beaux-arts. Dans sa série la plus connue Looking for Love (1997-2000), Buetti modifie des images de mannequins trouvées dans des magazines ou sur Internet en dessinant des symboles et des ornements de marque comme des cicatrices ou des tatouages sur la peau imprimée. Soudain, l'illusion que nous avons de la beauté parfaite s'effondre. Plus récemment, le travail de Buetti met l'accent sur l'obsession de la célébrité ainsi que sur la relation avec le monde des célébrités, par exemple lorsqu'il remplace les visages des personnes célèbres par des miroirs pour permettre aux spectateurs de se confronter à leur image de soi.
Daniele Buetti est l'un des artistes les plus importants de ces dernières années à explorer le thème du style de vie et des codes médiatiques. L'artiste, né en 1955 en Suisse, s'est fait connaître d'un plus large public à travers son travail sur les publicités de mode, la reformulation de la beauté incarnée par des mannequins comme Claudia et Naomi, Giselle et Kate : il a brutalement griffonné « Jamais assez de vous » sur les corps des modèles, portant précisément à un point l'effet fantasmatique des communications de masse. Dans d'autres œuvres, les modèles sont marqués des logos Nike - les marques des produits dont ils font la publicité - qui deviennent des excroissances ressemblant à des tumeurs sur leur peau.
En raison de sujets aussi puissants, Buetti a été appelé le "nouveau roi de la pop" - une appellation beaucoup trop superficielle à la lumière de l'œuvre considérable de Buetti au cours des dix dernières années, dans laquelle il explore le sujet de notre produit - et de notre consommateur. -société folle dans un contexte beaucoup plus large.
